We are always thinking one step aheadConsulting, Engineering & Optimization in Logistics Networks
How can we help you?
Increasing logistics capacity
Heuschen & Schrouff imports and distributes oriental food to customers in Europe. This is done from a central warehouse in Landgraaf (Netherlands), divided over several buildings. Customers are (small) toko’s and (large) retailers. Distribution is done with its own trucks, with 3 temperature zones (frozen, chilled and ambient).
Opportunities
Heuschen & Schrouff grows fast and the warehouse in Landgraaf becomes too small. The following actions are analysed to increase the capacity:
- External storage of bulk stock
- Expansion of one of the warehouses
- Increase the dock staging area of one of the other warehouses
- Capacity balancing over the week, less peaks
- Outsourcing storage and handling for some large retailers (large volumes, limited overlap with other products)
- Narrow aisles
- Mechanization
- A new (frozen) warehouse on the current site
- A greenfield warehouse on a new site
Solution
Activities done by Groenewout:
- Warehouse design, for multiple scenarios
- For each scenario, calculate the impact on the capacity, the CAPEX and OPEX
- Implementation support for the 3PL operation for large retailers
- Analyse improvement opportunities for transportation
Benefits
- More insight via data analysis
- Support the decision process on the way forward
