Greenfield Warehouse Design
The Al Baker group imports and distributes Pharma and FMCG products in Qatar. Partners are Abbott, Abbvie, MSD, Mundi Pharma, Pfizer and others.
Goods are received in containers, stored in a temperature-controlled warehouse and distributed to customers in Qatar with own vans and trucks.
Opportunities
Al Baker rented a warehouse, but had plans to invest in its own warehouse at a greenfield location. This warehouse should be capable to support the operations of Al Baker for a long time.
A local architect had already made a building plan. Groenewout was asked to design the logistics lay-out and processes. Based on the chosen logistic concept, if needed it was still possible to change the building design.
Solution
Groenewout compared several logistic concepts, from manual to mechanized / goods-to-man. Together with Al Baker, a preferred concept was chosen and a preferred lay-out.
For the preferred concept, a CAPEX estimate was made. Also, suggestions for a phased implementation were developed and discussed.
Benefits
- Flexible solution
- Optimal logistics concept
- Phased implementation
- Input for column grid and floor requirements
