Review budget building & installations of a standard depot
Description
PostNL Parcels is a subsidiary of PostNL, a mail, parcel and e-commerce corporation with operations in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. Formerly a subsidiary of TNT N.V., it became an independent company upon TNT’s demerger in May 2011.
Opportunities
In order to accommodate the volume growth in parcels, PostNL has invested in a new parcels infrastructure throughout the Netherlands. The new infrastructure consists of seventeen new hybrid facilities that combine the function of sorting and (regional) distribution of parcels. Four of these locations have also a cross dock facility. In an earlier project Groenewout has written Programs of Requirements for the two types of blue print, hybrid and hybrid with cross dock. During the realization PostNL asked Groenewout to check the general cost level and the location specific costs.
Solution
- Based upon the PoR and detailed drawings of one depot Groenewout has set up a budget for building and installations of a standard depot. This was compared with the costs level of the depot as given by the contractors.
- A report with costs of all building elements was made, and discussed in detail in two sessions.
Benefits
- Better insight in the building costs of a standard depot.
- Firm basis for PostNL in negotiations with contractors concerning costs of location specific elements of the different depots,
