Successful knowledge event with tour in warehouse of My Jewellery
Knowledge Session My Jewellery – logistics with a golden lining – Wednesday, June 11, 2025
The presentations on this sunny day were held in the beautiful club room of the Verkadefabriek in Den Bosch. This former factory now serves as a cinema and event location. Bus transportation was arranged from the Verkadefabriek to the warehouse of My Jewellery.
Arthur Zondervan, managing consultant of Groenewout, welcomed the participants and gave an overview of the activities of EPG Germany worldwide, of which Groenewout has been a part since 2023. EPG offers a range of logistics and supply chain solutions. It’s good to know that the Groenewout consultants remain independent in their advice and thus take a broader view of the market offerings in their pursuit of finding the best possible solution for the client!
Suzanne Hendriks, the supply chain manager of My Jewellery, spoke during her presentation about the rapid growth of the company, which increases by 30% annually. The company has evolved from an online platform to a retailer with multiple sales channels and more than 40 physical stores. She emphasized the impact of this growth on logistics activities and the choice to implement automated systems in the new distribution center. She also shared her positive experience with the consultants of Groenewout. My Jewellery and Groenewout have been working together satisfactorily for 4 years, where the pragmatic approach is certainly appreciated.
Due to the great interest, the participants were divided into 2 groups after this presentation. The first group left by bus to the distribution center (DC) of My Jewellery for a tour. The second group first received a presentation from Étienne Teunissen (consultant at Groenewout) and then the tour. Étienne explained the crucial elements of the warehouse design, including packaging and picking processes, as well as the various options considered during the design process. The final solution consists of a Goods-to-Person system where the inventory bins are brought to the operator using 2 types of AMRs (for vertical and horizontal movements). At the workstation, the operator places the items from the inventory bin directly into the shipping box. After completing an order, the box is then automatically reduced in height, closed, and provided with a shipping label.
The knowledge session concluded with an informal drink where participants could exchange experiences. Special thanks to our guest speaker Suzanne Hendriks and the opportunity for a tour in the DC of My Jewellery and also to all participants. It was a day with a golden lining!
